Always one to love a story, Laura Goodman’s original oil painting, Shadows on a Hill, is inspired by the legend of “The Seven Hills of Richmond.” As the story goes, Richmond, like Rome, was built on seven hills. Over time, a debate arose regarding which of the many hills in RVA should be designated as the original seven. From the well-known Church Hill and Oregon Hill to the unknown location of Goat Hill, there are currently 67 hills listed within Richmond’s city limits, and this painting as a collection of bright colors and smooth lines represents the beauty in them all.
